Love of Neighbor

In the end, we will be judged on the works of mercy. The Lord will say to us: 'Do you remember? That hungry child was me. Do you remember? The migrant who many want to drive out, it was me. Those grandparents alone, abandoned in nursing homes, it was me. That sick person alone in the hospital, that no one goes to see, was me.’

Love of Neighbor

What does it mean to ignore man’s suffering? It means to ignore God! If I do not approach that man or that woman, that child, that elderly man or elderly woman that is suffering, I do not come close to God.

Love of Neighbor

Whenever a hand reaches out to do good or to show the love of Christ, to dry a tear or bring comfort to the lonely, to show the way to one who is lost or to console a broken heart, to help the fallen or to teach those thirsting for truth, to forgive or to offer a new start in God, know that the Pope is at your side and supports you.

Love is the badge of the Christian, as Jesus told us: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35). It’s a contradiction to think of Christians who hate. It’s a contradiction. And the devil always seeks this: to make us hate, because he’s always a troublemaker; he doesn’t know love. God is love!

Love of Neighbor

Serving others chiefly means caring for their vulnerability. Caring for the vulnerable of our families, our society, our people. Theirs are the suffering, fragile and downcast faces which Jesus tells us specifically to look at and which he asks us to love.

The Lord calls upon us to be 'channels' of this love firstly towards the least among us, the poorest, who are privileged in His eyes.
