The Church

The Church does not belong to popes, bishops, priests or the lay faithful; the Church in every moment belongs solely to Christ.

The Church

The way of the Church is precisely to leave her four walls behind and to go out in search of those who are distant, those essentially on the ‘outskirts’ of life. It is to adopt fully God’s own approach, to follow the Master who said: ’Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous, but sinners.’

The thing the Church needs most today is the ability to heal wounds and to warm the hearts of the faithful; it needs nearness, proximity. I see the Church as a field hospital after battle.

The Church

I dream of a church that is a mother and shepherdess. The church’s ministers must be merciful, take responsibility for the people, and accompany them like the good Samaritan, who washes, cleans and raises up his neighbor. This is pure Gospel; God is greater than sin.
